From DiSC to Enneagram: My Journey with Workplace Assessments

Psychometric tools are everywhere – MBTI, DiSC, Enneagram. They all add value, but they measure different things. Some are great for workplace dynamics, others shine in recruitment, and some go deeper into personal growth.

A bit of my story

Back in Brazil I used to work with DiSC. Don’t get me wrong, it was great when I first learnt it and it gave me valuable tools for workplace conversations. When I moved to Australia I got certified in Predictive Index, another powerful tool for understanding retention and recruitment. Both had their place and I’m glad I worked with them.

But over time, I realised these tools mainly reflect what we need to be at work. They helped me and my clients adapt, but they didn’t dive into who I really was as a person. That’s when my search for deeper understanding began, and I found the Enneagram. For the first time, I was actually seeing real change in myself, and later with my clients. The Enneagram showed me that we can’t separate the “work person” from the “whole person”. We are one, and that’s what makes us unique.

Why I use the Enneagram

I’m not saying one tool is better than the others. MBTI and DiSC can be great for a team workshop or recruitment insights. But for me, sustainable change only started when I worked with the Enneagram. It doesn’t just describe behaviours, it reveals the deeper motivations behind them. It opens doors to more personal and professional development, helping people understand themselves and others on a much deeper level.

That’s why I trust the Enneagram for long-term growth. The other tools are practical, fast, and useful for recruitment or quick team diagnostics. The Enneagram creates more paths to change and change that lasts.
